Embraer announces sale of 215 new-generation planes at Paris Air Show

Brazilian jetmaker Embraer announced the sale of 215 of its new-generation planes, with an option for another 165 at Paris Air Show

The bulk of those commitments -100 of the E175-E2 aircraft -went to Utah-headquartered regional airline SkyWest, which flies feeder flights for Alaska Airlines, American, Delta, United and US Airways. The new planes have a list price of between $46 million and $60 million. Toronto’s National Post described the aircraft as “an update of the Brazilian manufacturer’s existing E-Jets with new wings, better avionics, fly-by-wire controls and new Pratt & Whitney geared-turbofan engines. The aircraft are also larger than the existing E-Jets, and can reach upward of 144 seats in a high-density configuration of the largest, the E-Jet 195 E2.”

  • Qatar Airways announced an new order for 9 Boeing 777-300ER jets.
  • Lufthansa confirmed a March order for 100 planes in the smaller Airbus A320 family.
  • Aircraft leasing company International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) placed a firm order for 50 short-haul Airbus A320neo jets.
  • Air New Zealand took delivery of its first Airbus A320 with fuel-saving “Sharklet” wing tip devices at a delivery ceremony. The aircraft was officially handed over to the airline’s Chief Flight Operations and Safety Officer David Morgan.
  • Canada’s Bombardier announced in Le Bourget that “a previously announced firm order for 10 CS100 aircraft was placed by Odyssey Airlines, a new airline that intends to operate from London City Airport.”
